Today's card is for Operation Write Home's Sketch Challenge #189. I love this sentiment from the Close To My Heart's National Stamping Month promo set, You Are My Happy. It's only $10 with a $50 purchase and includes a full alphabet, a set of icons and a set of sentiments. I used Anna Griffin papers except for the brown cardstock which is Bazzill. I embossed the strip of Bazzill with Anna Griffin's Circular Grid embossing border folder. The epoxy accent is also Anna's. I thought this would make a nice card from a mom or dad to their teenage daughter. I'm pleased with this card but think I got a little heavy-handed with the distressing.
I LOVE my Sakura Stardust pen and use it all the time. It was only after I finished the card that I wondered if this may violate the "NO GLITTER" rule. Here's what the Sakura website says about the pen:
- A roller ball pen that is easy and comfortable to write with
- Archival quality ink – chemically stable, waterproof, and fade resistant. ( Except black sparkle. )
- No smears, feathers, or bleed-through on most papers and
- The glittery 'dust' is an inert, cosmetic grade, finely ground ingredient – which produces the reflective brilliance
Love your sentiment and how you placed it an an angle. I'm going to have to look into getting one of those pens.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't use the stardust pen again - it does add some nice sparkle, though! Better safe than sorry... and this card is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteHey Jody, the photo prop on my page is called a "floral frog." I think they are used in flower arrangements; I found mine at michael's by the artificial flower props. :) Hope that helps!
DeleteI loved that Dr. Seuss sentiment, which I used on on a grandson's scrapbook page, but I've never seen a stamp set with it. I'm going to have to go look it up. It's a great card and I really like the slanting of the sentiment!
ReplyDeleteThanks, JoAnn. The "You're My Happy" stamp set has several nice sentiments but this one is my favorite. It's perfect for a grandchild's page.
DeleteFabulous card! Love that sentiment. I'd definitely steer clear of the stardust pen-- though it does make some awesome sparkle I wouldn't add it to your OWH awesomeness :)
ReplyDeleteI think your distressing is perfect! When I question whether something I used on a card meets OWH guidelines, I go back to Sandy's sweater test. If you rub a fuzzy sweater against the questionable material and any sparkle remains on the sweater, it is not OK. I keep a small piece of fleece near my craft table to test my cards!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words and great info! I tried rubbing a sweater and a piece of black velvet. There was no sparkly transfer. Yippee!
DeleteWonderful sentiment and card design.
